Motorcycle leaves road, injuring woman operator

SILVER CREEK -- A woman motorcyclist suffered minor injuries shortly after noon Sunday when her machine went onto the shoulder of Hanover Road, hit some loose gravel and left the roadway, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies report.

Mary Lou M. Frederickson, 46, of Hanover Road, was taken to Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, for treatment.

Fredonia woman charged with DWI

DUNKIRK -- A 41-year-old Fredonia woman was charged Saturday afternoon with felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated after she was stopped by Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies on Vineyard Drive in the Town of Dunkirk.

Luanne Marx of Birchwood Drive was arraigned in Dunkirk Town Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail after deputies responded to a citizen complaint of an intoxicated driver.

Deputies said they observed Marx driving with an inoperable brake light and failing to keep right.

Wellsville man accused of forgery

WELLSVILLE -- Wellsville police charged Gregory A. Ordiway, 22, of Wellsville, with two forgery counts Saturday.

Police said they charged him with second-degree forgery and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both Class D felonies.

Police said Ordiway is accused of signing and cashing checks reported stolen from a Wellsville home.

He was arraigned in Village Court and committed to Allegany County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail with a reappearance scheduled for May 15.

Police continue search for armed robber

WELLSVILLE -- Village and state police are continuing to search for a gunman who robbed the Eckerd Drug store on Route 417 Saturday.

Police said the man displayed a handgun at about 2 p.m., demanded narcotic drugs and fled on foot with his take. Witnesses described the robber as a white man in his 40s wearing a black jacket with a white hood and brown pants, police said.

Troopers called in a helicopter Saturday and sent a tracking dog team to help village police with the search, said officers. Two nearby nursing home facilities, Wellsville Manor and Manor Hills, were locked down, and police said they evacuated the adjacent Wellsville Country Club golf course.
