LIFELINE ONLINE -- The Western New York Kidney Connection, a local Web site that lets people in need of a kidney transplant make a posting on the Internet to find a donor, is seeking donations to help transplant recipients in another way -- by defraying some of their nonmedical expenses.

Although recipients do not pay for a donated kidney, spokeswoman Jeannette Ostrom says it's legal for a recipient to cover the donor's travel, food, lodging and loss of wages. Donations will help provide vouchers to hotels, restaurants and transportation companies. To donate or to provide one of those services, visit www.wnykidneyconnection.org.
