Erie County Department of Senior Services will hold classes for caregivers -- six weekly 2 1/2 -hour sessions that teach stress reduction, self confidence, how to communicate feelings and locate helpful resources: beginning May 1-June 5, 3 to 5:30 p.m., Dale Association Senior Centre, Lockport; 5 to 7:30 p.m., St. John Lutheran Church, West Seneca; May 9-June 13, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Alterra Clare Bridge, Williamsville; and July 9-Aug. 13, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Veterans Administration of WNY, Room 1104. A lecture on "Controlling Cholesterol Naturally" will be hosted by Rose Czyrny of The Body Glyphix Studio at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in East Aurora Middle School. The Schofield Residence is offering free personal pharmacy consultations during a "Brown Bag Evaluation Clinic" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the health care facility, 3333 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Participants should bring their prescription medications (in the original containers), over-the-counter medications and herbals with them to be evaluated for drug interactions and therapeutic appropriateness. As part of the national observance of "Cover the Uninsured Week," April 23-29, the Catholic Health System is offering free health checkups at 13 of its primary care centers throughout Western New York and its "Convenience Care" mobile health service. Participants will also receive information on Family Health Plus, Child Health Plus and Medicaid programs. Checkups are offered by appointment only.
