OLAF FUB SEZ: According to the late British comedian Spike Milligan, born on this date in 1918, "I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens."


BETTER MEDS -- Mixed-up prescriptions can be hazardous to your health, especially for seniors, so the folks at the Schofield Residence, 3333 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda, are offering to sort them out free of charge at a Medical Evaluation Clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Each participant will get a half-hour personal review of his or her medications. Appointments are necessary. Call Laura Mondello at 874-1566, Ext. 316.


FOND FAREWELL -- Among the people who miss Lonnie Hudkins the most are his community of contributing poets. The heart and soul of this column for nearly two decades, Lonnie passed away April 5. Here's a tribute to him from one of his regulars, Joyce L. Wilson of Amherst:

Oh, my spirit is sore,

LET'S EAT -- The Ladies From St. Lucy's are putting together a spaghetti dinner at noon Sunday in St. Columba Catholic Church, Hickory and Eagle streets, to raise funds for the church windows. For $6.50, there are meatballs, bread and butter, salad, beverages and dessert. Children 10 and over eat for $5. The fee for those 9 and younger is just $3.


MILITARY NOTES -- Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Marshall J. Faron and Air Force Airman Gregory I. Lombardozzi have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Faron, a 2000 graduate of Akron Central High School, is the son of David Faron and Kathryn Neureghter of Akron. Lombardozzi, son of Daniel and Teresa Lombardozzi of Clymer, is a 2005 graduate of Clymer Central High School.
