International Imaging Materials, a thermal transfer ribbon manufacturer in Amherst, promoted Vincent C. Dowell to president. Dowell most recently served as chief operations officer. He joined the company in 1992. Also, the company named Douglas C. Wagner senior vice president of North America sales and marketing. Wagner, who most recently served as vice president, sales and marketing -- Europe, Middle East and Africa at Avery Dennison Corp., had previously been with Iimak from 1996 to 1998.

The Buffalo Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals named Evelyn Mietlowski Outstanding Member of the Year. An executive assistant at Jeffrey Freedman Attorneys, Mietlowski will be honored at the chapter's annual Administrative Professionals Week kick-off and education seminar April 21 at Rich Renaissance Center. Downtown Jamestown Development Corp. named Debbie Luce of Randolph manager of its Main Street Project. Luce was formerly Randolph's Main Street Manger for nearly seven years. New York's "Main Street" program emphasizes the preservation of the downtown core, and retaining businesses and attracting new ones.

The Western New York Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers named Paul Morrow of Severn Trent Laboratories president-elect. A graduate of Canisius College, Morrow has been in the environmental field in the Buffalo area since 1988.

Tronconi Segarra and Associates named Thomas E. Mazurek Jr. senior manager of its state and local tax department. Mazurek, a sales and use tax specialist will focus on services to the firm's client base including mergers and acquisitions planning.

The National Federation of Humane Societies elected Barbara Carr chairman of its board of directors. Carr, executive director of the SPCA Serving Erie County, will serve a three-year term on the first-ever NFHS board of directors.

il,13l,5p Gibraltar Industries, a Hamburg-based steel and metal building products manufacturer, appointed Kevin Cullen vice president of operations. Cullen, previously corporate manager of lean manufacturing for Carrier Corp., has more than 30 years of production and operations management experience. He is a graduate of LeMoyne College.

United Way of Buffalo and Erie County named Diane Bessel Economic Self Sufficiency Coalition director. Bessel will provide support to the coalition, strategic plan implementation and evaluation of its impact as well as work with volunteers in developing and implementing the United Way's economic self-sufficiency efforts.

The law firm Chelus, Herdzik, Speyer, Monte and Pajak named Carla J. Miller Montroy associate. She will handle litigation as well as general practice at 438 Main St. and the firm's branch in Cheektowaga.
