University at Buffalo junior Jack Durnin, who has a double major in mechanical engineering and media production, is one of 25 student filmmakers competing in mtvU's (that's MTV's 24-hour college network) second annual "Best Filmmaker on Campus" contest.
Internet voting opened Tuesday and continues through Sunday.
The list of 25 will be narrowed down to five filmmakers, who will have their work showcased at the 6th annual Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from April 25 through May 6.
After that, they will "be featured as part of voting for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards." The nominees for the MTV Movie Awards will be announced by the end of this month.
The winner of the "Best Filmmaker on Campus" crown will be on the MTV awards show and, more importantly, receive a development deal with MTV Films.
