Fleur de Son Classics, the label owned by star Buffalo guitarists JoAnn Castellani and Michael Andriaccio, is announcing a new concert series. It's called the Guitar at Symphony Circle, and concerts will take place at historic First Presbyterian Church, across the street from Kleinhans Music Hall.
The series gets rolling Sunday with a concert by the widely acclaimed guitarist Nathan Kolosko. A former student of Castellani, Kolosko also studied with legendary Cuban guitarist/composer Ricardo Iznaola. He recently released a debut recording, "Sonatas and Sonatinas." It was praised by the the London publication Classical Guitar, which called it "a high-octane agenda from a guitarist with the skill, imagination and confidence to bring it alive."
Kolosko is currently on the faculty of St. Joseph's College in Maine. Accompanying him Sunday will be flutist Carl Dimow, a member of the Casco Bay Tummlers, a sought-after klezmer band also based in Maine.
The concert takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday, and a CD signing will follow the music. Admission is $15 at the door.
