Rev. James M. Daley, was one of oldest priests in the diocese <br> Aug. 21, 1917 -- April 7, 2007

The Rev. James M. Daley, one of the oldest priests in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, died Saturday. He was 89.

Before he retired in 1979, Father Daley served as pastor of Visitation Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, both in Buffalo; St. Patrick Church in Brocton; and SS. Peter & Paul Church in Arcade.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and Christ the King Seminary. He was ordained on May 30, 1942, and began his career at St. Ambrose Church in Buffalo. He later served at Holy Name of Mary Church in Ellicottville and St. John the Baptist Church in the Town of Tonawanda.

Auxiliary Bishop Edward M. Grosz will lead a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Vianney Church, 2950 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park.
