Bush Industries' Jamestown plant will be expanding as the ready-to-assemble furniture maker phases out its satellite plant in Little Valley.
Bush President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Sherbert said the company has already begun the process of closing down the Cattaraugus County location, which makes specialty parts.
Sherbert said it's part of a "rationalization plan" started 1 1/2 years ago after Bush filed for bankruptcy in 2003.
"We closed our Mexican operation, we downsized our Erie [Pa.] operation to be our global logistics and warehousing center and not a manufacturing site, and we are also going to move out of Little Valley and relocate that business into Jamestown," he said.
About half of Little Valley's 100 employees will be offered jobs at the Jamestown facility in the Mason Industrial Park.
Under it's previous management, Sherbert said, Bush expanded its physical assets beyond the needs of the corporation. He said management is trying to combine a "world class global supply network" with domestic manufacturing.
