After serving an apprenticeship touring with the likes of the Donnas, Sugarcult, Motion City Soundtrack and as part of the yearly Warped Tour jaunt, Orange County quartet Melee has taken to the road with friends the Early November, the Rocket Summer and Quietdrive for a modern punk-pop tour de force.

Gig picks

The band 53 Days will perform tunes from its album "Weight of the World" -- according to the band, 30 modern rock stations across the country are currently spinning that album's single, "King of the Broken Hearts" -- with a show inside Nietzsche's, 248 Allen St., on Saturday.

The power-pop band will be joined by guests Floozie -- also poised to drop a new album in the coming weeks -- and Adam Zadok. Doors for the show open at 9 p.m., and the music starts promptly at 9:30 p.m.; $5 at the door gets you in. Call Nietzsche's at 886-8539 with questions.
