The Urban Community Corporation will be raffling off a pair of Buffalo Sabres playoff tickets for Game Two of the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in HSBC Arena. The seats are in Section 115, Row 14, and have a window price of $360.
Raffle tickets cost $5 and are available at Supreme Painting and Wallpaper, 1682 Clinton St., and must be purchased prior to the drawing, which will be at the end of the second period of the first playoff game. Special arrangements for tickets may be made by calling 827-7100.
Dan Finucane and Steve Allen were inducted into the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (Western New York District Board 53) Hall of Fame at the board's annual awards banquet at Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant in Blasdell.
Grover Cleveland, coached by Earl Schunk, was honored with the Ves Pennell Award for sportsmanship while Dennis Piekarski received the John Nostrant-Gerry Schlee Award for service to the organization.
Dave Smith was named Western New York official of the year in a poll of coaches.
Receiving 50-year service awards were John Bycina and Len Kosobucki. They will be honored at the national IAABO convention in Mystic, Conn. later this month.
Receiving 25-year service awards were L. Brian Bryant, John Ballow, Marty Boryszak, Alan Gens, Finucane and Larry Ramunno.
Benji Bluman was re-elected Board 53 president. Bluman is joined by vice-presidents Dan Nostrant and Kevin Ferguson; executive secretary Bob Miske; treasurer Pete Carbone; interpreter Mark Clifford; sergeant-at-arms, Bycina; and the board of directors: Finucane, Mike Nagorski, Piekarski and Dave Thomas.
