>Earth Day Festival planned April 25 at JCC
JAMESTOWN -- Jamestown Community College's annual Earth Day Festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 25 outside the Hamilton Collegiate Center.
The event, sponsored by JCC's Earth Awareness Club and the college program committee of the JCC Faculty Student Association, is free and open to the public.
Earthfest will feature live music by the Bruce Peterson Project of the Infinity program, ecofriendly goods and displays by local environmental organizations. A tree seedling adoption will be conducted by the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Proceeds from the sale of products by Earth Awareness Club members will benefit the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and Reef Relief, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving coral reef ecosystems.

>Loan to help fire company purchase tanker truck
The Sheldon Volunteer Fire Company in Wyoming County will receive an $84,400 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Program to purchase a new 2007 tanker truck.
The loan was announced by Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, R-Clarence.
The volunteer fire company wants to replace a tanker that has a rusting 40-year-old tank mounted to a 20-year-old chassis.
