Block club schedules organizational meeting
LOCKPORT -- The new Washington-Allen Neighborhood Block Club will hold its organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lockport Public Library, 23 East Ave.
The gathering will be in the ground-floor meeting room off the Chestnut Street parking lot.
The club is aimed at a small area along Washington Street between Church and Gooding streets and Allen Street north of Grand Street. It is a spinoff from the North End Neighborhood Watch and Block Club. Dan Wilson, former president of that club, is among the organizers of the new one.
Election of officers and a board of directors for the new club will be supervised by Norma Higgs and Roger Spurback, visitors from the Niagara Falls Block Club Council. Organizers said the purpose of the club is to help police combat disorderly conduct by youths who loiter in the neighborhood.
