Head-on collision leaves seven injured

FRIENDSHIP -- Seven people were taken to four hospitals after a two-car crash Friday night west of Friendship.

Belvidere troopers said an eastbound car driven by Elisha Denning, 22, of Canisteo and a westbound car driven by Michael Maisonet, 24, of Little Genesee collided head-on at 8:26 p.m. on County Route 20 near the hamlet.

Denning was passing uninvolved vehicles in a no-passing zone, said troopers.

A 3-year-old, Karter Okonski of Canisteo, who troopers said was not in a child seat, was ejected from the Denning car.

He was flown to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo with massive trauma, they said.

Samual Stewart, another passenger of Denning's, was taken by ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville; Denning was flown to Erie County Medical Center.

Troopers said Denning had head injuries and Stewart had head cuts.

Maisonet and his three passengers -- Rodolfo Piszarro Jr., 26, of Andover; Jose Maisonet Jr., 27, of Olean; and Adrian Logue, 31, of Olean -- were all taken to Olean General Hospital.

Troopers said Michael Maisonet had a bruised left knee, Pizarro complained of left leg pain, Jose Maisonet had a possibly broken left ankle and Logue complained of severe neck pain.

The investigation is continuing.
