Timothy A. McGuire, sheriff's deputy Jan. 12, 1949 -- Dec. 28, 2006

Timothy A. McGuire, a Vietnam War veteran and a retired Erie County Sheriff's deputy, died Thursday in his West Seneca home. He was 57.

Born in Buffalo, he graduated from South Park High School and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Canisius College.

During the Vietnam War, Mr. McGuire served in the Army and received the Purple Heart.

He was an Erie County sheriff's deputy from 1984 until he retired last year.

Mr. McGuire was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Police Benevolent Association and the Badge & Shield Club. He received several commendations during his police career.

Survivors include two sisters, Judy Oliveri and Kerry Fischer, and three brothers, Kevin, John and Terrance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 1974 Seneca St. Prayers will be said at 9 in Loomis Offers & Loomis Funeral Home, 1820 Seneca St.
