NEW YORK -- Make it four in a row.
The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team continues to have a December to remember, holding off Cornell for a 78-67 win in the first round of the Wagner Holiday Tournament on Saturday.
The Bonnies (8-5) have won four straight games and their last five road games. They will play Rider (1-10) in tonight's championship game at 7.
Bona is now 5-1 in December with its only loss to No. 22 Bowling Green in the Reilly Center.
"It's been different things each time out," Bona coach Jim Crowley said. "We have different people stepping up [offensively] and that makes it difficult for teams to guard us. . . . The other thing right now is they believe they should win on the road. They know what they need to do and take care if. They're playing with such confidence."
Against Cornell, freshman Dana Mitchell scored a game-high 22 points, hitting eight of her 11 shots.
Classmate Andrea Doneth added 12 points -- including hitting 7 of 8 from the free throw line -- with six rebounds.
Ashley Edwards continued her strong play on the boards, grabbing seven rebounds to go along with 10 points. Audrey Latendresse also netted 10 while Priscilla Edwards added seven assists.
"Our young kids are playing well," Crowley said. "People know what Audrey can do and teams are really paying attention to her and Priscilla Edwards. That opens up things for Andy and Dana and they've done a nice job. It's also a credit to our upperclassmen who are being unselfish in getting the ball to them."
The five road wins are the most for Bona since 1998.
