Lester F. Hess of West Seneca, an active churchman and Trico Products Corp. retiree, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital. He was 93.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Hess was a lifelong resident of the Buffalo area. He was a civil defense air warden during World War II.
Mr. Hess worked at Trico on Washington Street for more than 40 years, retiring in 1975.
A Boy Scout leader for many years, he was a founding member of St. David's Episcopal Church in West Seneca, where he served as a member of the vestry and as a church warden.
In later years, Mr. Hess often helped out at Peppermint Farms, a horticulture business operated by his grandson, Mark F. Hess, in East Aurora.
His wife of 55 years, Doris E. Rich Hess, died in 1993.
He is survived by three sons, Peter, Michael and John.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. David's Church, 3951 Seneca St., West Seneca.
