Former Lewiston resident Esther Taddie, a retired meat cutter and once-active volunteer, died Thursday in Newfane Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was 89.
Born Esther Ross in Rochester, she moved to the Niagara Falls area as a child.
Mrs. Taddie worked at Nabisco Shredded Wheat Co. in Niagara Falls and later was a meat cutter in the deli department of the Falls Food Center and B-Kwik and Tops supermarkets, all in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the John Duke Senior Center and the Italian Mothers Club in Niagara Falls and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Company.
Her hobbies included gardening, working in her yard and playing cards. She also was an avid bird lover and animal lover.
Her husband of 52 years, Joseph L., died in 1992.
Mrs. Taddie is survived by a son, Donald J.
Prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 in St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Center St.
