Leroy Dingle, a Republic Steel Corp. retiree, died Saturday in his Buffalo home. He was 76.
Born in Manning, S.C., Mr. Dingle worked for 20 years at Republic as a crane operator, retiring in the mid-1990s.
He moved to Buffalo from Manning in 1957 and went to work for Martin Fireproof and Dingle Concrete, a business owned by his late brother, Robert.
Mr. Dingle continued to work as an independent concrete contractor and hired area young people to give them work experience, according to family members.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, the former Delores Best; two daughters, Debbie Fugate and MaryLee Darcelin; and two sons, Mark and Leroy E.
His funeral will be at noon Friday in Bethlehem Baptist Church, 165 Doat St., after a wake at 11.
