A memorial Mass for Florence Pajak, former village clerk, treasurer, tax assessor and trustee in the Village of Sloan, will be offered at 11 a.m. today in St. Andrew Catholic Church, Reiman and Crocker streets, Sloan.
She died unexpectedly Sunday in her home in Cheektowaga. She was 85.
Born Florence Gonsiorek in Buffalo, she attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School and was a graduate of Sloan High School.
Long active in church and civic organizations, Mrs. Pajak served nine years as Sloan village clerk before she was elected a trustee in 1989. She served three four-year terms on the Village Board.
She also served as secretary of the New York State Association of Village Clerks and secretary of the Municipal Finance Officers.
The mother of three, she was a member of the Mothers Club and the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Andrew's Church and was a bingo worker. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of Sloan Memorial Post 355, Veterans of Foreign War, and Frank L. Gierlach Post 1320, American Legion.
Her husband of 27 years, Edward Sr., died in 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Jr. and Robert, and three sisters, Martha Trafalski, Emily Zawadzki and Helen Jasinski.
