Viola D'Elia, who was involved in the foster care program in Niagara County, died Thursday in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was 85.
Born Viola Multeri in Niagara Falls, she was a lifelong resident of the city and attended local schools. She had worked as a foster grandmother for the Health Association of Niagara County.
Her husband of 37 years, Julio, died in 1977.
Survivors include a son, Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1917 11th St.
