> TOWN OF TONAWANDA

Golf dome screen repair may cost town $10,000

The barrier netting at the Paddock Golf Dome, designed to stop golf balls from pelting traffic on the Youngmann Highway, is noticeably tattered this year because of the effects of the October snowstorm, a Town of Tonawanda official said.

Robert Morris, the town's director of technical support, said the net used for the driving range is repaired annually, but this year, there are more rips because of the early snowstorm.

Still uncertain is whether the town will have to absorb the cost of repairing the screen, which is also under warranty. The manufacturer will make the repairs, but it could cost the town about $10,000.

The dome also was damaged by the snowstorm when snow that piled atop the dome punctured it as it slid off. The dome reopened Nov. 18. The driving range is open from May 1 to Oct. 1.

> CHEEKTOWAGA

Boys & Girls Clubs given $15,000 from state

Assembly Majority Leader Paul A. Tokasz, D-Cheektowaga, has presented $15,000 from the state to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo to buy equipment for the John F. Kennedy Clubhouse recreation program.

The clubhouse offers an after-school program for 52 youths, with an average daily attendance of 25. The clubhouse works closely with the Cheektowaga-Sloan School District and its middle school.

"Research has shown that children are at greatest risk of indulging in negative behavior in the hours right after school before their parents come home from work," Tokasz said. "Financial contributions to such prevention programs that target at-risk kids, such as the JFK Clubhouse, are not only investments in the development of each individual student, but the community as a whole."
