LEWISTON -- Harold J. Miller of Lewiston, a World War II veteran, volunteer firefighter and Occidental Chemical Corp. retiree, died Wednesday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. He was 81.
Born in Niagara Falls, he was a graduate of the University of Buffalo, earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. During the war, he served stateside in the Navy.
Mr. Miller was an engineer at Occidental for 33 years and retired in the early 1980s.
A longtime volunteer with Upper Mountain Fire Company, Mr. Miller served in several capacities, including chief.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Dorothy Widmer; two sons, Mark and Karl; and a daughter, Beth Ruminaf.
