NCAComp President Kevin Gregory and Vice President Steven Gidwitz presented a seminar on workers' compensation at the Buffalo Niagara Partnership recently. The presentation, "Proven Methods for Reducing Workers Compensation Costs," focused on topics including the high cost of workers' compensation in New York State, reform issues, accident prevention, claims management by insurance carriers, and traditional insurance versus self-insurance. NCAComp is an administrator of self-insured workers compensation and disability programs for both large and small employers located in Buffalo.


Phillips Lytle partner Raymond H. Barr recently made presentations on the Pension Protection Act of 2006 to the Employee Relations Association of WNY and the Financial Planning Counselors of Western New York.


The Erie 1 BOCES Board of Education appointed Rosemary Conley director for the organization's Career Development Services Division. Conley, with BOCES since 1989, has more than 30 years of experience in education and nearly 25 years of supervisory expertise. Most recently, she served as the associate director for Erie 1 BOCES Career Development Services. She is a University at Buffalo graduate.


KeyBank named Cherie Lynn Rindfleisch business sales officer for the Western New York District of KeyBank N.A. She is based in the bank's Western New York District headquarters at 50 Fountain Plaza in Buffalo. Previously, Rindfleisch worked as a lead commercial relationship associate for Citizens Bank. She originally joined Key in 1996 as a teller.

Columbus McKinnon Corp., an Amherst-based material handling equipment maker, has won a $2.37 million contract from the U.S. Coast Guard to provide small-size open-link buoy chains for the division of the Department of Homeland Security.


The Mentholatum Co. named Media Pros of Orchard Park the media planning firm of record for its Phisoderm brand. Services will include negotiation and placement of all national advertising campaigns for the skin care brand, newly acquired by The Mentholatum Company in 2005.


The local owners of Yianni's Greek Family Restaurant, located at 6941 Williams Road in Wheatfield, plan to open another Greek family restaurant, Vasilios Family Restaurant, in January or February at 550 Dick Road at George Urban in Depew. Howard T. Saperston Jr. of Saperston Commercial Real Estate represented the landlord and Eric C. Tudor of Coldwell Banker Commercial Meridian represented Vasilios.



The Western Zone New York State Retired Teachers Association Founders Fund donated nearly $7,800 to Meals on Wheels this year. The money was distributed over the five area counties as well as the Seneca Nation Office of the Aging.
