Air Tran Airways will begin non-stop service between Buffalo and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in February.
The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority has confirmed the airline will launch the Saturday-only flight on Feb. 17. The once-a-week, non-stop flight is the second Florida-bound addition Air Tran has unveiled in the past month. In late November, the airline said it will begin daily, non-stop service to Orlando as of Jan. 11.
Those two flights mark the first direct service for Air Tran to Florida out of Buffalo. The airline will also continue seven daily options via connecting flights to Florida.
Buffalo-area residents in need of a quick mid-winter sunshine fix will also have the option of a new Southwest Airlines non-stop flight to Orlando beginning March 11. Southwest currently operates two direct flights to the Florida city.
