Shirley A. Preshoot, worked with disabled <br> July 3, 1928 -- Dec. 19, 2006

Shirley A. Preshoot of Hamburg, who worked at West Seneca Developmental Center for 23 years and Claddagh Commission for 11 years, died Tuesday in Mercy Hospital. She was 78.

Born Shirley Goodrich in Buffalo, she served in the Army. Her family said she was passionate about working with people with developmental disabilities.

Mrs. Preshoot was a member of Southtowns Christian Center in Lake View, where she was one of the founders of the "Feed My Sheep" food pantry. She was also a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Angola. She was a past president of the North Evans Volunteer Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary.

She was the widow of Samuel N. Preshoot.

Surviving are four daughters, the Rev. Shirley A. Smardz, Judith L. Alzrott, Janet L. Benedict and Harriet F. Preshoot; a son, Carl D.; and two brothers, Raymond and Walter Goodrich.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Southtowns Christian Center, 6619 Southwestern Blvd., Lake View.
