Florence E. Pronobis of Cheektowaga, a longtime nurse, died Monday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a brief illness. She was 89.
Born Florence Lopian in Buffalo, she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for the City of Buffalo and later for Dunlop Tire Corp.
She was a parishioner of St. Josaphat Catholic Church and taught religious education classes at Villa Maria Academy and St. Josaphat's School.
Her husband, Dr. Aloysius, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Annemarie Kalkhof; two sons, Andrew and John; a sister, Antoinette Osinski; and a brother, Henry Lopian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Josaphat Church. William and Peoria streets, Cheektowaga. Prayers will be said at 9 in Daniel R. Smolarek Funeral Home, 2510 Union Road, Cheektowaga.
