Thelma Richards, high school teacher <br> Oct. 25, 1932 -- Dec. 11, 2006

Thelma Richards, a former Tonawanda High School teacher, died Dec. 11 in Tel Aviv, Israel. She was 74.

Born Thelma Rasnick in Buffalo, she was a graduate of the University of Buffalo and earned her master's in teaching from Buffalo State College.

She taught English at Tonawanda High for almost 15 years and then moved to Israel, where she taught English at Tel Aviv University.

Mrs. Richards was a voracious reader and also enjoyed music, art, theater and other cultural events.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Lahav, and two sons, Michael and Daniel.
