>Free Christmas concert to be held in church

LOCKPORT -- The Lockport Community Band will perform a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St.

>Free health screenings and Santa visit planned

NIAGARA FALLS -- Independent Health Foundation's Good for the Neighborhood program is sponsoring free health screenings and a visit with Santa from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Doris W. Jones Family Resource Building, 3001 Ninth St.

Participants will also have a chance to win a grand-prize trip to Disney World and tickets to First Night Buffalo.

It is not necessary to be an Independent Health client to participate. To register, call 635-4959.

>Key-to-the-Locks award seeking nominees

LOCKPORT -- The Erie Canal Discovery Center and the City of Lockport Celebration and Events Committee are looking for nominees for the second annual Key-to-the-Locks award.

Nominees should have demonstrated outstanding community spirit in the City of Lockport.

Deadline for nominations is April 1, and the presentation will be made May 12 during the Key-to-the-Locks ceremony at the Erie Canal Discovery Center.

Nomination forms are available online at www.lockportevents.com, in the Niagara County Historical Society at 215 Niagara St. or in the City of Lockport Youth Center at 201 Willow St.

In addition to the presentation of the award, the Key-to-the-Locks event will mark the ceremonial opening of the Lockport locks for the 2007 navigational season.
