Alcas Corp. promoted James M. Stitt to president, Carey Litteer to executive vice president, and Hugh Freeborn to director of engineering at its subsidiary, Cutco Cutlery Corp., effective Jan. 1. Stitt, currently executive vice president and general manager of Cutco, joined the company in 1997. Litteer, with the company for more than 17 years, currently is vice president and technical manager. Freeborn joined the company in 1983 as a project engineer. He has served as plant engineering manager since 1997. Cutco is an Olean-headquartered manufacturer of high-quality kitchen cutlery and accessories.

The Penn Traffic Co., the Syracuse-headquartered parent of Quality Markets and other supermarket chains, named Robert Panasuk president and chief executive officer, and Gregory J. Young executive vice president and chief operating officer. Panasuk has 30 years of experience in retail and supermarket industries, and most recently was executive vice president of A&P. Young rejoined Penn Traffic in July and has 25 years in total with the company. Before returning, he headed the retail operations of C&S Wholesale Grocers. Before that, he was a group vice president at A&P.

YMCA Buffalo Niagara appointed Susan Lumadue executive director of the Delaware Family YMCA, 2564 Delaware Ave.; Richard Presutti executive director of the Ken-Ton Family YMCA, 535 Belmont Ave., Kenmore; and Allison Lawson executive director of the Northeast Family YMCA, 4433 Main St., Amherst. Lumadue previously served as chief operating officer for the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo and Erie County following her service as the executive director of the Gloria J. Parks Community Center. She attended the University at Buffalo and Empire State College. Most recently, Presutti was executive director of the Geneva branch of the YMCA. He has also served as youth sports, child care and aquatics director at the facility. Presutti is a University at Geneseo graduate and is a certified YMCA senior director. Previously, Lawson was the executive director of the Ken-Ton branch and interim executive director and fitness director of the Northwest branch.

Praxair Inc. named Claudio Santana manager of supply chain, logistics and asset management in the industrial gases company's Packaged Gases group. He is located at the Praxair Technology Center in Tonawanda. With the company since 1988, Santana has held positions in business analysis, procurement and Six Sigma, and most recently served as a senior development engineer for global operations excellence.

The Western New York Defense Trial Lawyers Association presented former president Diane F. Bosse its highest honor when she received the Robert M. Kiebala Memorial Award and was recognized as the 2006 defense trial lawyer of year. The award is made to an attorney who best exemplifies the association's mission of promoting the highest standard of trial conduct through member education and advocating the defense position in civil cases with the judiciary and where appropriate in the New York State legislature. Bosse is a partner at Volgenau and Bosse. Also, the association installed Gerard E. O'Connor president and named Greg Pajak vice-president/president-elect. New directors: Nelson E. Schule, Jill M. Tuholski and Robert Hartford.
