Planners seek extension of wind power moratorium
FREDONIA -- The Pomfret Town Board has been asked by the town Planning Board to extend the moratorium on wind power systems by six months.
The Town Board this week set a hearing on the measure for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 27 in Town Hall.
The Town Board and Planning Board will hold a special combined workshop to discuss the development of the town's comprehensive plan at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Town Hall.
The board renewed the cable service franchise contract with Time Warner. It expires in 2012.
The board also named a new deputy town clerk, Carol Stafford of Fredonia. She assumes the title immediately at a pay rate of $10.92 an hour, working an average of 20 hours a week. Stafford also is the 2007 tax collector for the town.
The board noted there is an opening on the Board of Assessment. Those interested in applying should send a letter to Supervisor Don Steger at Town Hall by Jan. 31.
The board's yearly reorganizational meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 3.
