Marylowe Ames, who assisted her husband in his sewing machine and vacuum cleaner repair and sales business, died Tuesday under Hospice care in her Lockport home after a long illness. She was 69.
Born Marylowe Herbert in Delaware, she came to Lockport with her family as a child and was a graduate of Lockport High School. She worked as a waitress for the James Restaurant, then as a cook for the Tuscarora Club. She then became bookkeeper for her husband's business, A&S Sew Vac.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, George M. Sr.; two daughters, Eileen Portanova and Michelle Thompson; and a son, George H.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St.
