Lester G. Van Patten of West Seneca, a retired railroad conductor, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital. He was 80.
Born in Buffalo, he served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific campaign.
Mr. Van Patten was a conductor for the Buffalo Creek Railroad for 40 years.
He was a longtime member of the United Transportation Union. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Alice Irene Moran, and three sons, Michael, Donald and Mark.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 839 Mill Road, West Seneca.
