Sue C. Wimberg of the Town of Tonawanda, a homemaker, died Friday in Oakwood Health Care Facility, Amherst. She was 92.
She was born Sue Cecil in Cecilia, Ky., where her grandfather and his brothers founded and operated Cecilian College and her father was the town dentist. She graduated from Cardonne Academy in Georgetown, Ky., and attended Nazareth College in Louisville. She was the mother of three.
Her husband of 47 years, Raymond H., who died in 1981, was a leader in Louisville's sports community and was one of the founders of the Kentucky Derby Festival.
A Town of Tonawanda resident since 1991, when she moved here to be near her family, she was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, E. Joyce Eulner and Kathy W. Gray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
