Gertrude McQuade, taught dancing <br> May 11, 1925 -- Dec. 7, 2006

Gertrude McQuade, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Thursday in Gainesville, Fla., while visiting her daughter. She was 81.

Born Gertrude Adams in Oshawa, Ont., she moved to the Town of Tonawanda in 1954 with her husband, James, and their children. They all became U.S. citizens in 1965.

Mrs. McQuade and her husband were involved in forming and teaching square and round dancing for more than 25 years in Western New York and Southern Ontario.

Her husband died in 1996.

She is survived by three sons, Donald, Ross and Michael, and two daughters, Marilyn Kennedy and Jane Rung.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Amelia Catholic Church, 2999 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda, where she was a parishioner since 1954. It will follow prayers at 8 in Lombardo Funeral Home, 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda.
