Esther T. Karalus of Elma, a retired tax preparer, died Friday in the Erie County Home and Infirmary in Alden, after a long illness. She was 75.
Born in Buffalo, the former Esther T. Czwojdak was a graduate of St. Mary's Business School. She lived in Buffalo until 1966.
A tax preparer, accountant and insurance broker, Mrs. Karalus owned her own business from 1956 to 2000, retiring because of Alzheimer's disease.
She was a parishioner of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Elma and served as recording secretary for the East Clinton Professional and Businessmen's Association from 1959 to 1977, and was a director in 1970 and 1972-74.
Her husband, Robert N., died on June 11.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynda Leman, Jacquelyn Owczarczak and Jennifer Frankino; two sons, Gregory and Jeffrey; and a sister, Christine Sala.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Annunciation Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma.
