Beverly B.Cohen of Amherst, a former preschool teacher and realtor, died Wednesday in a Denver hospice unit following a year-long battle with cancer. She was 76.
A Buffalo native, the former Beverly Bregger graduated from Bennett High School in 1948 and attended Emerson College. As a preteen, she was a regular performer on a Saturday morning children's hour on a local radio station.
Mrs. Cohen was a preschool teacher at Temple Beth Zion in the 1970s, before switching careers and working as a realestate agent for Stovroff and Herman in the late 1970s and 1980s.
"She had a lifetime love of Crystal Beach, her grandchildren and gathering the family at the holiday table," her son James said. "And my mother never lost a friend."
She was the widow of two husbands, Henry Cohen, who died in 1980, and Samuel M. Fingold, who died in September.
Survivors include two sons, Howard and James; a daughter, Dr. Nancy Carlson; a stepdaughter, Hollis Fingold; and her sister, Linda Levine.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Temple Beth Zion on Delaware Avenue.
