Daniel W. Grosso, a retired businessman and veteran of World War II, died Friday in Williamsville View Manor after a long illness. He was 83.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Grosso graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and Canisius College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1946.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific.
From 1955 until he retired in 1992, Mr. Grosso was president of Safe Lock & Key Corp., a family-owned business in downtown Buffalo founded in 1923 by his late father, William. He also had worked for Hewitt-Robbins in Buffalo from 1949 to 1955.
Mr. Grosso also was retired from the scientific staff of the Erie County Sheriff's Department, where he was a security specialist.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Rebecca Cancilla; two daughters, Carol Behm and Kathy Fedak; and a sister, Catherine Lapczenski.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
