Volunteers / Community organizations seeking help

Explore & More, a children's museum in East Aurora, will hold training for docents in November, with additional training planned for the future. Explore & More is looking for people who have experience working with young children, who are adaptable and excited to learn new things. It's a position that can be tailored to a volunteer's interests and availability.

Interviews for docents will be held until mid-November, followed by a short course of training. Other volunteers are welcome at any time. Contact Explore & More at or at 655-5131, ext. 14.

AIDS Community Services of Western New York needs help for its annual Cause for Celebration gala on Nov. 18 at the Statler Towers Golden Ballroom. Volunteers are needed for set-up, to pick up desserts, help during the event and clean up. More than 250 people are needed to make the evening a success.

Last year's event raised $80,000, with proceeds remaining in the area for medical care, treatment support, education and training. Each year, the agency assists more than 1,400 people who are living with HIV/AIDS. Services are provided in the surrounding eight counties.
