Replacement food stamps available for storm losses

People who are signed up for food stamps and who lost their food because of the storm can receive replacement food stamps in several ways:

The first, and probably the quickest, is to go to the Rath County Office Building, 158 Pearl St., to fill out a special form.

Or call Social Services at 858-7239 and ask for the form to be mailed to you. It must be returned within 10 days.

Or call your Social Services caseworker and ask that a form be sent to you.

If you need food in the meantime, go to a food pantry for help. A list of open pantries follows:

Also, the Hearts for Homeless mobile soup kitchen will be operating today and Friday at 7 p.m. at Ellicott and Court streets in downtown Buffalo.

And the American Red Cross will provide mobile food service at two sites from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today: parking lot of Home Depot, 2100 Elmwood Ave. (call 871-8800) and Hispanics United, 254 Virginia St. (call 856-7110). A Red Cross van also will distribute food as needed during those hours in a drive through Amherst.
