>Mayor Parr announces resignation as of Nov. 1

BARKER -- Due to relocation, Barker Mayor Cheryl J. Parr has announced her resignation as of Nov. 1.

Parr joined the Village Board in 1993 and served as a trustee until 2003, when she was elected to the first of her two consecutive two-year terms.

"This was a true dream of mine, to be elected mayor, and to have been able to serve the people of Barker, always to the very best of my ability," she said in her resignation letter.

Deputy Mayor Donald P. Martineck will fill the remainder of Parr's term, which ends next March, when an election will be held.

Parr was the first woman to hold the village's highest position.
