A Mass of Christian Burial for James R. Burke, a retired bank examiner, will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church, 6919 Transit Road, Amherst, following prayers at 9:15 a.m. in Amigone Funeral Home, 8440 Main St., Clarence. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
Mr. Burke, of Clarence, died Wednesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long illness. He was 73.
He was born in Buffalo and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Buffalo. During college, he also worked on a railroad at Bethlehem Steel.
After college, Mr. Burke was a New York State bank examiner for 32 years, retiring in 1991.
He served in the Army as a military policeman in Panama for two years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, the former Linda Boesl; two daughters, Rhonda Peloso and Cathy Jones, both of Orlando, Fla.; a son, David of Morrisville, N.C.; a sister, Donna Smith of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
