TELESCOPES will focus on the moon, planets and constellations at the Penn Dixie Paleontological & Outdoor Education Center in Hamburg beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday. The viewing will include the first quarter of the moon, the Pleiades, Orion Nebula M42, Saturn and a variety of constellations.

Two 16-inch, one 14-inch and two 8-inch telescopes will be available for viewing. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own telescopes. Cost is $2 per person; free for members of the Hamburg Natural History Society. For information, visit or call 627-4560.

A THEME TRAY silent auction sponsored by the Leonardo da Vinci Home School Association will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdayin Madonna Hall at D'Youville College, 320 Porter Ave., at Fargo Street.

DIDN'T FORGET -- Sarah and Scott Witkowski this year again showed their gratitude to Women and Children's Hospital with a donation of $8,100. The money was raised at the Witkowski Family annual auction Feb. 26 at the Elks Lodge in Lancaster.

The Witkowskis wanted to show their appreciation after son Bret was diagnosed as an infant with craniosynostosis . He underwent successful surgery in May 2004 at the hospital. The family has raised more than $17,000 through the two auctions.

DOORS OPEN at 6:15 p.m. Saturday for the annual Catholic Academy of West Buffalo silent ticket auction at 1069 Delaware Ave. Admission is $7 and includes 15 tickets. Drawings will begin at 8. More than 150 theme trays and raffle items will be available, along with refreshments and food.
