Annual Maple Festival is a lot more than syrup

ANDOVER -- The 34th annual Andover Maple Festival runs Saturday and Sunday on the grounds of the Andover Central School District.

The festival includes the seventh annual sportsmen's show and antler roundup.

The weekend festival is a fund-raiser for the Andover Lions Club and will include crafts, food vendors, maple products, pancake flour, plants and other goods.

The Lions Club's sugar shack on the lawn at Blessed Sacrament Church is already boiling sap from trees tapped in the village.

The antler roundup is a chance for hunters to have their trophies scored and to display them.

Andover area youth and church groups will be selling food.

The Andover Rod and Gun Club serves a pancake and maple syrup breakfast starting at 7 a.m. both days in the school cafeteria.

Admission to the festival and sportsmen's show is free.
