>Man accused of imprisoning woman, assaulting, raping her
A 29-year-old Buffalo man has been charged with imprisoning a woman for 4 1/2 hours, assaulting her and raping her in the presence of his 2 1/2 -year-old daughter.
Larry R. Shearer Jr., of Schiller Street, was charged with rape, assault, harassment, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
The woman suffered pain, swelling and bruising on her neck, an abrasion behind her ear and a cut on her arm. She was treated in Sisters Hospital.
Ferry-Fillmore District police said Shearer picked up the woman in his vehicle at about 10 a.m. and prevented her from leaving by choking and grabbing her.
He then drove to his home, pushed her onto the pavement, dragged her inside and threatened to kill her and his children. He also choked her numerous times and raped her.
Police said the ordeal took place in front of the 2 1/2 -year-old girl.
Scherer was arrested by Officer Paul Sobkowiak and Detective Joseph Ahmed from the Sexual Offense Squad.
According to records, Shearer has City Court convictions for unlawful imprisonment in 2002 and criminal possession of weapon in 2001.
>Hertel grocery robbed of $1,200 at gunpoint
Two men armed with a handgun robbed a Hertel Avenue grocery store Tuesday night, police reported.
Northwest District police said the robbers entered the City Grocery at 1225 Hertel at about 8:15 p.m. One of the men pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.
The robbers fled with about $1,200.
>Woman accused of striking boyfriend with table lamp
A 41-year-old Buffalo woman was charged with striking her boyfriend with a table lamp several times Tuesday night, police said.
Lori Robinson, of Michigan Avenue, was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Her boyfriend, Richard Roll, 37, was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he received stitches. He was later released.
Ferry-Fillmore District Officer Thomas McCarthy reported that the attack occurred at about 7:40 p.m. in Roll's Laux Street home.
>Shots miss two teenagers near Burgard and Doat
Several shots were fired at two teenagers at about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday near Burgard Place and Doat Street, Buffalo police reported. Neither was struck.
A Burgard Place woman told police that a man had shot at her sons, 15 and 16 years old.
>Copter, K-9 dog assist search for armed robber
Lancaster police used a helicopter and a K-9 dog in an unsuccessful attempt to find an armed robber who took an undetermined amount of money from a gas station in the village late Tuesday night.
Police said the bandit walked into the Mobil station at Broadway and Central Avenue at about 11:15 p.m., threatening a clerk with a handgun before stealing the money. He was last seen heading north on foot from the station.
Lancaster police had the help of a Cheektowaga K-9 dog and the Erie County sheriff's helicopter in an attempt to track down the thief.
Detectives described the robber as a white male, possibly in his late 20s, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10, with a three-quarter-length black leather jacket and a knit cap pulled down over his face.
