POETRY BASH: Students from 25 Buffalo public schools and 10 Williamsville schools will join in the third annual Buffalo/Williamsville Poetry, Music, and Dance Celebration at Kleinhans Music Hall at 7 p.m. April 6. Guest poet Eamon Grennan will read from his work in collaboration with many student performances. One will be an art song by City Honors junior Christopher Johnson-Roberson based on Grennan's poem, "Cold Morning," and sung by Houghton Academy mezzosoprano Karen Williams, accompanied by Williamsville East senior Esther Chang on cello and North High band director David Stringham on piano.

CANISIUS PLAY: Canisius High School Drama Club presents the musical "Me and My Girl" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium, 1180 Delaware Ave. Tickets are $10, $7 for students and seniors at the door, $1 less if purchased in advance. Call 882-0466.

4-H CONVENTION: The 4-H Teen Council is sponsoring the first Erie County 4-H Teen Convention from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Erie County at 21 S. Grove St., East Aurora. It's open to 4-H members and other teens 13 and up. There will be food, games, live demonstrations and music. Information will be available on community service, horsemanship, cooking, sewing and more. UB POETRY CONTEST: Winners of the University at Buffalo's High School Poetry Contest will read their poems at 1 p.m. Saturday in the UB Center for the Arts. Pulitzer Prize-winner Carl Dennis will offer a mini poetry workshop as well. This is open to all and is free.

MASTER CLASS: New York City Ballet soloist Daniel Ulbricht will teach a master ballet workshop class this Saturday and Sunday for dancers age 9 and up at the American Academy of Ballet, 491 West Klein Road, Williamsville. Prepayment and preregistration are required. Call 688-4774.

OOPS, WE GOOFED: LSX of Williamsville South won first place at the Battle of the Bands at the Coffee House in Amherst. Last week's NeXt ran the wrong middle initial for the band.
