James L. Summers Jr., state parks employee <br> Feb. 3, 1958 -- March 26, 2006

James L. Summers Jr., a state parks maintenance manager, died Sunday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. He was 48.

A city native he was known as "Jimbo" and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School.

He worked as a maintenance manager for the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and was involved in maintaining the Cave of the Winds and Viewmobile rides.

Mr. Summers enjoyed drawing, going to the casino and building models.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, the former Mary J. Rafter; a son, Cory of Virginia; two daughters, Alyssa and Rae Ann, both of Niagara Falls; his mother, Rose Marie of Niagara Falls; a sister, Susan Marie of Niagara Falls; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Town of Niagara.
