Grumpy judges crab at Top 10

The Top 10 contestants on "American Idol" (8 p.m. Tuesday on Channel 29, WUTV, if you're living under a rock) tackled songs of the past six years. This was the first hourlong show, and even the Ryan-Simon sparring happened on the double-quick. The judges were extra crabby: bad song choice, karaoke, all the usual things.

No comparison: All three judges skewered Lisa Tucker for attempting Kelly Clarkson's hit, "Because of You."

Props: Chris Daughtry credited the band "Live" for the "Walk the Line" arrangement he used last week. Hey, better late than never!

Cute 'n' dumb: The judges said Kellie Pickler was "better than" the song, "Suds in the Bucket," and Ace Young soulfully pulled his shirt open to show a sizable scar on . . . wait, what song did he sing?

Calm down: Paula said she'd like to hear the story behind Ace's soulful scar sometime, prompting catcalls from her fellow judges. Uh, Paula? Remember Corey Clark? Maybe not! She did have one of the supposed-to-be-symmetrical designs on the front of her strapless top twisted under her right armpit, after all.

Highlights: Taylor Hicks looks better every week and said "Wooo!" only once. Paris Bennett was fierce and Elliott Yamin funked it up.

Enough already: It's time for Bucky Covington to ride back to the ranch. Lisa Tucker's on deck.
