Elena J. Lamendola, a beautician and real estate agent, died Monday in St. Catharines (Ont.) General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 63.
She was born Elena Santoro in Niagara Falls and was a 1961 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
She was self-employed as a beautician and worked as a real estate agent in Canada.
Mrs. Lamendola was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Women's Bocce League in Niagara Falls and the Club Italia Ladies Auxiliary in Canada. Her hobbies included baking, and she was known for her special-occasion cakes, as well as arts and crafts and dancing.
She is survived by her life partner, Michael "Moe" Berringer of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Virginia Derrah of New Brunswick, Canada, and Laina Holland of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a son, James of Tucson, Ariz.; her father, Joseph Santoro of Niagara Falls; a brother, Michael Santoro of Lewiston; two sisters, Carmeline Folino and Nicolette Hinderliter, both of Wheatfield; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
