Ralph W. Bennett, retired county employee <br> March 18, 1936 -- March 21, 2006

Ralph William Bennett of Kenmore, a retired Erie County employee, died Tuesday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Town of Tonawanda, after suffering a heart attack. He had turned 70 three days earlier.

Known as "Billy," Mr. Bennett was born in Buffalo and attended local schools, including Technical High School.

He served in the Air Force and, later, the Marine Corps.

Mr. Bennett worked for many years as a printer in the Rath County Office Building, retiring in the mid-1990s.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, the former Bernette Mallory; six daughters, MarQuita Woolford, Audrey, Regina, Rhonda Harris and Tasha Johnson, all of Buffalo, and Sonja of Pittsburgh; four sons, Maurice of Stafford, Va., Ralph W. Jr. of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Demetrius and LaMont, both of Buffalo; a sister, Audrey Pritchett of Buffalo; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Lombardo Funeral Home, 102 Linwood Ave.
